Holy Week and Easter 2019 (15th – 21st April):

This year our Church hosts services, with Greenbank Parish Church, for Holy Week and Easter. The theme will be, ‘The Art of Holy Week’. Each evening the preacher will use a piece of art work as the inspiration for the sermon. Evening services will be at 7.30pm in the chancel (Monday to Wednesday).
On Maundy Thursday at 7.30pm we sit in the nave and, as part of the service, will share the Lord’s Supper.
On Good Friday there is an extra service, ‘The Three Hours’, which will last from 12noon to 3pm in the Church. The service is in six half hour segments, and you do not have to stay for the full service. The service will consist of short talks, music and silence, and the artwork used at the evening services will be on display in the Braid Hall. The guest preacher will be Bishop Richard Holloway.
The Good Friday 7.30pm evening service will be in the Church, with music from the joint choirs of Morningside and Greenbank.
On Holy Saturday there will be a reflective service of words and music at 7.30pm. Please make every effort to attend at least one, or more, of these very special services at this most important time in the Christian year.
On Easter Sunday there is one service at 10.30am. (No 9.30am service). We celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. After the service, there will be Easter refreshments in the St Matthew Hall.
