Special Choral Evensong, 4pm, Sunday 24th November
A special Choral Evensong service, 4pm in the Church
Our organist and choirmaster, Morley Whitehead, is also organist at the Robin Chapel (where, every Sunday afternoon, a semi-professional choir sings a service in memory of Robin Tudsbury, the last Allied Officer to be killed in the Second World War.)
The standard of music, week by week, is high; and in recent years the present Director of Music, Paul Gudgin, has sought to raise the profile of the Chapel Choir – either by inviting folk to the Chapel to take part in a “Come-and-Sing” Evensong, or by taking the choir to sing in other locations (they sang at Canongate Kirk last August, as part of the Edinburgh Festival of the Sacred Arts.) On Sunday, November 24th, at 4.00 pm. the Robin Chapel Choir come to Morningside to sing Choral Evensong.
The music will include Howells’ “Gloucester” Service, and (by way of anthem) Edgar Bainton’s “And I saw a new heaven.” Do please come along to support – AND enjoy!
There will be a retiring offering for Church funds.
