Autumn Lectures 2025

This year’s Autumn lectures will be hosted in our Church and jointly supported by Greenbank and Fairmilehead Parish Churches. We meet for refreshments in the Braid Hall from 6.30pm and the lectures will be held in the Church at 7pm. The theme for this year’s lectures will be, Ecology Matters, the wellbeing of Creation and Humanity.

7th September: Mike Robinson, who chairs Stop Climate Chaos Scotland and is Chief Executive of the Royal Scottish Geographical Society. His theme will be: Ecology, the Climate and the need for action.

14th September: Val Brown is Head of Christian Aid in Scotland. She has served on the Church of Scotland’s World Mission Council, chaired their Middle East Committee and currently chairs their Ethical oversight committee. Her theme will be: ‘The Unstoppable Power of Hope: Christian Aid at 80 – a look at the global work of building a more just world.’

21st September: Professor David Farrier is Professor of Literature and the Environment at the University of Edinburgh. He is the author Footprints: In search of Future Fossils. His work has been translated into ten languages. He will talk on his recently published book, ‘Nature’s Genius: Evolution’s Lessons for a Changing Planet.’

The evenings will be funded by donations from those attending, so please give generously.
